Dr. Kelly Wacker partnered with UM biologist, Dr. Jill Wicknick, in the Fall 2019 term to teach teach two intersecting courses, Art & Zoology for art students and Zoology & Art for biology student. This hands-on course merged art history and observational drawing with biological identification and natural history of Alabama insects and birds. Students learned about the importance of citizen science while bridging their majors to foster interdisciplinary learning and collaboration. A high point of the class was a two-day field trip to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.
